Australia Day at Patina

Thanks so much to everyone that headed to Patina Wines on Australia Day to enjoy pizzas and music in the courtyard.

We loved your company and the great atmosphere, despite the huge storm and downpour during the middle of the evening.

The pizzas were a big hit, with every topping proving a winner - a stand out seemed to be the roasted pumpkin with feta and pesto, mmmmm delicious.

We ended up hosting around 80 people on the night and the wine and conversation flowed easily. We loved having you all at our place for Australia Day and hope to see you back for our next event, the Fiesta in the courtyard.

Live from the Pizza Oven at Patina

Gerald is perfecting his pizza oven technique as well as making sure the vineyard is in tip top condition before vintage.

These pizzas have yummy thin wood fired crusts and the team at Patina have been testing the perfect pizza toppings.

If your mouth is watering already, then head to Patina Wines this Australia Day - call 02 6362 8336 to book your spot.

We also have a live band organised to play in the courtyard - superb!

Patina Pizza Oven

Over the winter, the Patina crew have been hard at work getting the Patina Wines cellar door and gardens ready for summer.

We would like to introduce our latest addition - the Patina Pizza Oven. Hand built by Scott Riley, who has been staying at Patina for the last few months, the pizza oven has had a lot of love and attention poured into it.

The key has been to insulate the pizza oven as well as possible to ensure that it stays warms using materials that will also transfer the heat to the food being cooked.

The interior of the pizza oven is just as beautiful as the outside as this pictures show!

I'm sure by now you are all getting just a little but excited thinking about wood fired pizzas, slow cooked lamb and all the other tasty dishes we are planning to cook in our new oven.

We hope you can join us early next year during Slow Summer to officially christen our new pizza oven. We will be hosting a Patina Pizza event on Saturday 26th January - bookings essential. Contact gerald@patinawines.com.au to reserve your spot.

Spring Garden @ Patina

How does a glass of rose in the garden sound? Why not make the most of this lovely spring weather whilst it lasts and come and visit us at Patina?

If you are free next weekend (Sat Nov 10 & Sun Nov 11) then feel free to visit Patina and take a stroll around our spring gardens.

We are open between 11am - 5pm on both days and will be selling coffees, teas and sweet things along with cellar door tastings and wine by the glass.

Feel free to bring along a picnic and all your friends and family.

Hope to see you next weekend!

Orange Wine Week

The final weekend of Orange Wine Week was absolutely stunning and jam packed with a wide range of wine related events. Friday night stayed dry for the Night Markets (thank goodness) held in Robertsons Park in the centre of Orange. Hundreds of locals and tourists turned up to try the wide range of wines from the Orange region accompanied by locally sourced and utterly delicious dishes.

Both Saturday and Sunday were filled with blue skies, warm weather, lush green fields and vines with their first buds – totally beautiful. The Patina Wines Cellar Door was extremely busy with visitors sampling our cheese and wine matches throughout the day.

One of the favourite cheeses of the weekend was most definitely the Swiss raclette style gruyere which was served warm and gooey.

If you didn’t get the chance to make it along to any of our events, fear not, as we are holding our Spring Garden @ Patina event in two weeks time – join us!

Waffles with the Wine Maker 2012

Our waffles with the wine maker went down a treat last Sunday, as part of our Wine Week celebrations.

Winemaker Gerald Naef handles the tasting table
We ended up with forty people seated throughout the house and garden hungry and ready for waffles.

So delicious - everyone wanted seconds!
After a scorcher of a day on Saturday, everything turned a bit overcast for Waffles with the Winemaker, but the wet weather just gave us an excuse to light the fires and let everyone cuddle closer together!

Beautiful flowers
We had a great morning and loved passing on our waffle tradition to our visitors. Hope you can make it to waffles next time.
